Legal Services Pricing
We’re committed to clear and transparent pricing for legal services.
Standard Fees:
- Initial consultations are always free.
- For personal injury and workers’ compensation cases, we operate on a “contingency” basis. That means we received a percentage of the total settlement, award, judgment, or other recovery of compensation in the case. The more money that you make, the more money that we make. If you get $0, then we also get $0.
- For personal injury cases (excluding professional malpractice cases) the attorney’s fee (our profit) is 1/3 of the total amount recovered by settlement, award, judgment, or otherwise.
- For professional malpractice cases (e.g. medical or legal malpractice) the attorney’s fee is 40% of the total amount recovered by settlement, award, judgment, or otherwise.
- For workers’ compensation cases, the attorney’s fee is the amount allowed by the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission’s regulations. It will never be more than 20% of the total amount recovered by settlement, award, judgment, or otherwise.
- The law firm may, on occasion, agree to take cases outside of personal injury or workers’ compensation. The standard rate for such cases is $250/hour for attorney services and $50/hour for legal assistant services.
- Cases can be expensive! We’ll cover the costs and expenses of your case upfront, and get reimbursed from the money that is recovered by settlement, award, judgment, or otherwise (note that the reimbursement is in addition to our attorneys’ fees, but is not profit for our firm, as we’re only recouping expenditures).
Public Service Discounts:
The fee percentage for personal injury cases will be reduced from 1/3 to 28% for clients who are:
- Currently or formerly serving in the U.S. military;
- Currently licensed and working as a nurse, nurse assistant, nurse practitioner, EMT, or paramedic; or
- Currently working as a public school teacher (Kindergarten – 12th Grade).
Fairness Guarantee:
We will never claim greater profits than you get on a case. If our attorneys’ fees would otherwise be greater than the amount you will receive for your case (for example, because of substantial case costs and expenses, or because there are liens that must be paid) then we will reduce our fees to match your own profit on the case.
